Wednesday’s Child is the child who is abandoned by life. This is a coming of age story about Jimmy Brewster, a homeless boy, who had been living on the streets because his father abandoned him. When the story begins Jimmy has to make a decision about joining a local street gang. After living on the streets for months and seeing no end to his misery, he is about to give up on all the principles his mother taught him. That is until Don Rhodes, a down on his luck horse rancher steps in and forces him to make the choice to fight to live. Together the two must find a common ground and in the end conquer the demon that haunts them both. Don is a recovering alcoholic who caused the death of his wife and son years earlier. Jimmy must finally come to terms with his mother’s death. This story is about their struggle to become a family against all odds.

This is the second book I've read by the author. In the first book, "Rustic Roads", the biggest problem I had was with the large number of editorial errors. In "Wednesday's Child", I was hoping this would improve, but I continued to find the errors distracting. Additionally, the last one-third of the book felt rushed and somewhat disjointed. The story line would be moving along, and then it seemed to jump, especially towards the end of the book. I felt the first part of the book was more cohesive, but found the last part of the book confusing and felt that it ended abruptly.Product details

Wednesday Child Lillian Francken 9781478232438 Books Reviews
Wednesday's child is a another sad story about a homeless boy who got a second chance in life. And of course he has a rough road, But he has a man who helps and guide him.
The cover of this book is what caught my eye. I couldn't look away from it, and when I read the synopsis I had to check it out. If you're looking for a typical, cookie-cutter, hero conquers world type of book, this isn't it. This is way more than that.
I was homeless myself for a short time as a child. I could relate to Jimmy and what he was going through. For the author to capture the essence of a troubled boy so well was truly impressive. I highly recommend this one.
